This weekend get down to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for The Bluegrass Festival. The free festival has a great lineup, from Elvis Costello to Patti Smith, there is something for everyone to see.  Elvis Costello plays the Banjo Stage on Friday, the English singer has won multiple awards, and is ranked in Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. The 58 year old star will be playing at 5:45PM, someone that you should definitely not miss.  American folk rock band, The Lumineers’ debut album was released on April 3, 2012, started their tour in December the Colorado band have been opening for such artists as The Dave Matthews Band. Their unique sounding melodies should not be unnoticed, catch them whilst you still can at the Rooster stage on Saturday at 2:30PM. Seasick Steve, Oakland born blues musician, performs on Porch stage Saturday 6:05PM. He received MOJO award in 2007 and since been playing major UK festivals, and main stage shows, one of which that I saw, performing with his close friend Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) at a UK concert in front of 65,000 fans last year. His original use of instruments and voice indubitably charms the crowd.  As well as the main acts, the smaller stages like The Towers of Gold Stage also have a great lineup including, The Head & the heart who play at 4:45PM on Saturday. The band toured throughout 2010 and 2011 opening for Vampire Weekend, The Low Anthem, Iron & Wine, My Morning Jacket, Death Cab for Cutie and others as well as headlining their own shows. The Seattle band have a great indie folk-rock style that has been compared to ‘folksy’ Beatles or Crosby Stills Nash, they have received an admirable likeness from their fans and their inspiring shows have so far impressed the crowds.
