Rapper Joe Budden was arrested in New York last night, for the most garden-variety, tabloid-repellant reason possible: traffic violations. Drats! The NYPD maybe-or-maybe-not-deliberately nabbed Budden right before he was scheduled to perform at a Slaughterhouse concert at Best Buy Theater.
MTV Rapfix reports the rest of the group — Royce Da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I — performed two songs with Budden conspicuously absent, before fessing to the crowd that Budden was arrested for the outstanding warrant just before the concert. The crowd responded with chants of “Joey, Joey, Joey!” to which Royce replied, “We love Joey too, chanting for him ain’t gonna get him outta jail.”
Budden’s rep says the ticket was for $75 and obliquely assures us that Joe has “handled the matter.” Phrasing!
