Randall’s Island is a tiny one in New York City, but on June 23-24 it’ll host the massive Governors Ball 2012, which debuted the first portion of its lineup today. Santigold, Major Lazer and Chromeo champion the bleep-bloopy side of things, while Modest Mouse and Explosions in the Sky have the strummy-strums covered. Er wait, my vocabularly hasn’t recovered from spending my weekend with four-year-olds – maybe it’s better to let the press release clarify…
Building upon the inaugural year line-up that focused on Dance, Hip Hop, and Electronica, Governors Ball 2012 will also incorporate Indie Rock, Americana, and Pop acts. There will be a distinct vibe to each day, with Saturday mirroring the lineup featured at Governors Ball 2011, and Sunday’s bill focusing primarily on the expanded genres.
Tickets are $160 general admission / $300 VIP, unless you nab the early bird deal through Livingsocial – a $35 savings and $10 merch voucher which will be available on the Gov Ball’s ticketing page early tomorrow morning (5am EST).
