About Beats Per Minute:

Beats Per Minute (formerly One Thirty BPM) is a New York and Los Angeles-based online publication which covers a wide variety of genres but specializes in rock, hip hop, and electronic music, offering critical analysis without the elitism that permeates many other sites.

Philip Cosores is the Managing Editor of Beats Per Minute as well as the Senior Staff Writer at Consequence of Sound, and still manages a day job as an advertising copywriter. Dude is busy! His fingers probably write things on their own while he’s asleep.

Cosores’ photos accompany a review which comments on the widespread embrace of something so experimental as w h o k i l l, the oblique and charged tUnE-yArDs album which recently won Album of the Year honors in the 2011 Pazz and Jop poll:

To receive this kind of acceptance would be humbling to anyone, but for someone who makes something so unique and something that could be so easily dismissed to get this kind of reception was something truly special, and it capped off the night in a way that can make everyone in attendance proud to have been a part of it.
