It’s that time of year again, when speculation over the Coachella lineup simmers to a boil. Festival organizers Goldenvoice pull the lid off the 2012 lineup announcement this week (as promised by the teaser image up there, which surfaced on Coachella’s Twitter on Friday), and we’re all anxious to see the months of Radiohead and No Doubt speculation pay off with the official headliners announcement.
Five acts have been confirmed thus far: Azealia Banks, araabMUZIK, Breakbot, Jimmy Cliff and Housse de Racket had videos posted on Coachella’s official website and were followed by #Coachella2012 on Twitter before publicly confirming their attendance. (Update: The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky confirmed.)
But the sleuths have been hard at work compiling a list of likely performers for this year’s festival. Coachella expands to two weekends (April 13-15 and 20-22) this year, and artists sign a contract which prevents them playing in the Los Angeles area for a month on either side of the event. For this reason, gaping holes in an artist’s tour schedule often represent an act reserving space for a performance in Indio.
Some of the intriguing names floating around:

- Childish Gambino
