By the time you read this post many of May Day’s surprises will have begun to unfold. The Occupy Movement will have taken to the streets shutting down bridges, streets, and public spaces in an effort to organize the 99% in honor of the International Workers’ Day, or May Day. If you haven’t laid witness, there will be huge protests in downtown San Francisco and New York where many were scheduled.
One of the many surprises tomorrow will be “Guitarmy.” Joining forces with the Occupy Wall Street Music Working Group are Immortal Technique, Dan Deacon, Das Racist and Tom Morello collectively forming the “Guitarmy,” Late tonight, the celebrated musicians shared their intents on Twitter. Morello will lead the group armed with Woody Gutherie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” Tom Morello’s “World Wide Rebel Song,” Willie Nile’s “One Guitar,” and more at Bryant Park in New York around 12pm EST.
It appears later (between 3pm-4pm EST) Morello and the Guitarmy will join Deacon, Das Racist, and Immortal Technique in Union Square.
This isn’t the first time musicians have joined protestor. Last fall we reported Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel performed at an Occupy protest.
