Popscene Presents: Flight Facilities @Rickshaw Stop
March 29th – 10pm – $14

Flight Facilities are one of the best examples of contemporary music marketing. The mystery behind the band still eludes journalists and fans. Almost two years ago their single “Crave You” leaked into the scene by UK band friends Friendly Fire. Now, the Youtube hit has over a million views with several different versions, well before an official video was ever made. With only another single to its name, “Foreign Language,” the group has exploded onto the scene almost anonymously. The band comprised of “Hugo” and “Jimmy” has also been rumored to be a new Calvin Harris project. Even their press releases omit their full names. Some people say they’re from Trinidad, others say Australia.

Who are they? What’s the hype all about? Their disco-funk house music is almost perfectly encapsulated in their James Bond-esque video for “Foreign Language” (featured below). As per usual, San Francisco’s Popscene is ahead of the curve helping fans to discover what many of us still don’t understand. We’re selling tickets to the sold-out show on our app.

We’re also handing out a free pair of VIP tickets to see Matthew Dear, whose set we lauded when he passed through San Francisco’s Public Works in February for the week-long Noise Pop festival (check out our photo gallery of that show). Tomorrow night, he returns to the swank Clift Hotel, and you can win two tickets, a free drink and line-skip privileges on us! Download the app to enter – we’ll notify winners via email by tomorrow.
