The LA Times reports that concert promoter Goldenvoice – the name behind megafestival Coachella – has taken over the lease on the Music Box in Los Angeles, which was abruptly shut down in January after its previous operators were evicted. Goldenvoice will reopen the venue immediately, rebranded under a new name: the Fonda Theater. Producer Feed Me will perform at the reopening show this Saturday, March 17th, so clearly they haven’t wasted any time in getting ownership turned over.
The Goldenvoice takeover comes as no huge surprise – they had booked two shows at the rebranded Fonda as part of their Coachella sideshow series, so clearly the deal’s been in the works. Goldenvoice will reportedly commit to a 12-month lease and take over the old liquor license, set to expire August 31st.
