Chadwick Stokes is a well-traveled man. On the musical front, he’s responsible for two heralded bands with roots-rock influence: Dispatch (originally active until 2002, reunited several times since then), which led into the formation of State Radio in 2005. He’s parlayed his musical success into a platform for a number of activism projects – notably Calling All Crows, which has donated upwards of $250,000 in the past three years to improve the quality of life for women in impoverished countries. The organization throws concerts with an emphasis on community service and outreach on the part of its attendees. His work with Calling All Crows – as well as his co-foundation of the Elias Fund and Dispatch Foundation – earning him the title of Humanitarian of the Year at the 2008 Boston Music Awards.
