Blur will play their first show in over 3 years at the 2012 Brit Awards, where they will be recognized with an Outstanding Contribution To Music Award. The event will be held on February 21st, 2012 at the O2 Arena in London. Bassist Alex James told XFM London, “we’re going to play, which is brilliant, it’s like putting the Blues Brothers back together.”

But James wouldn’t go so far as to say this spells a 2012 reunion tour for Blur: “Well, lets hope – heritage year next year. [Would] be good wouldn’t it? […] I wish I could tell you more. I’m sure it will happen one day but I don’t know when. It’s quite nice to keep it special.”

Less commitment than we’d like, but it sounds like something is in the works – we’ll just have to be patient.
