The Cure will release "Bestival Live 2011" on December 6th, 2011.

The Cure loved their 2-and-a-half hour set at Bestival 2011 so much, they decided to turn it into an official release. In Robert Smith’s words: We had such a great time in the Isle of Wight at Bestival that we wanted to release this show as a way of thanking fans and islanders alike. Bestival is the best!”

Bestival Live 2011 drops tomorrow, December 6th, and will feature two discs spanning 32 of the Cure’s classic tracks. Now, you can hear the first cut from the live album: The Cure’s Bestival performance of “Boys Don’t Cry” is streaming over on Soundcloud.

What’s better, profits from the album benefit the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, an organization which offers community services and counseling to Isle of Wight residents under 25. And kudos to Bestival and The Cure, who continue to pass on residual benefits to the local community months after the event itself went into the books.

The album comes out tomorrow on Sunday Best Recordings.

Sticking with the theme, here’s “Lovesong” at Bestival 2011:
